MamaMel Foundation
This is a passion project for me. Something that I would love to explore in years to come. One day, I would love to pursue a non-profit organization that advocates for postpartum moms and spreads awareness of Postpartum Psychosis, a perinatal mood anxiety disorder. My twin sister, Mel (Melissa), suffered from PPP after the birth of her first-born son, and ultimately took her own life only a week after giving birth. Our family raised funds to support other organizations like Postpartum Support International and Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health. But one day, I’d love to advocate for new moms and families, while spreading awareness of the critically serious condition of PPP, so no other woman or family has to go through what our family went through. Within the first year of losing my twin, I took to a creative outlet to explore what a non-profit foundation could look like, embodying her love and light into the color palette, her kindness in the font used, and her welcoming and friendly nature in the shapes and illustrations.
